Halloween

It's Halloween time - MUST stay away from the candy in the office, at friend's houses, in store. MUST NOT BUY ANY! MUST NOT take any!! This is an evil holiday for those trying to lose weight . They make those small size candy bars so you think you can eat one or two and still won't be like eating a full one. Well its just as bad in my opinion. I did still dress up tho. I do like that part of Halloween. I dressed up for work as Ms. Pennsylvania (I was born there). Tiara, sash, and dress. Granted b/c its' 100 degrees in our office at lunch I went home and changed into something cooler but I've still got the tiara and sash people!! What are you doing?

whoa...

so i have had a very busy last few days. alumni board meeting on wednesdsay, alumni event on thursday, friends bday party on friday, seattle friends in town on Saturday nite, and fun yard work on Sunday! And now here we are on Monday and I did some more yard work b/c it was so beautiful outside and it needed to be done. it felt good but i'm hoping that it doesn't rain tomorrow so I can go walking. I'm feeling the need to do "the walk"....that is what I call the self made 2 mile trek around my neighborhood. :) I so much prefer that than going around in boring sceneless circle at the gym. However it is going to be winter soon so I'm in the market for a treadmill or eliptical. Still trying to figure out which is the best for me. And if I can work it my flex health money that i've set aside already this year will be my $$ for it. If I only knew months, years ago!! Meanwhile I have two weeks to go until the wedding that I'm attending and we are all approa...

wedding affairs

why is it that when attending a wedding one must almost always buy something new? I have a wedding at the beginning of November for a long time family friend. Finding an outfit not only for the wedding itself but for the rehearsal has been quite the ordeal for my sister and I. Our initial expectations of dress were dashed two weekend ago and we both had to go back to the drawing board and malls with credit cards in hand. My mom, the queen of clothing for every affair possible is pretty much set I think so she was there to support us in any way she can and for me that was so needed. I'm on a tight budget so its nice when the parental units can come help a sista ' out here and there. Plus the " Kirkmanopolous '" have to show well at the wedding right? LOL My dad got a new suit and is going to look very swanky from the looks of it. My dad has always looked dashing and years younger than his actual age. A skin gene I pray that I inherited . So far I don't have ...

Work pitch-ins

Today is Boss's day and my area brought in breakfast food for our boss. My office is notorious about bringing in food for just about any holiday, celebration, whatever that we can think of. And its not like we all love to bake, half the time its store bought. lol My sister is amazed we don't all weigh 500 pounds because as we all know the food we bring in is far from healthy. Sure once in a while someone will bring in fruit salad. Heck I even brought salad makings once (which wasn't eaten as much as the other stuff mind you). One time instead of the typical Halloween candy bowl, when I sat at the front help desk, I brought in a bowl of fruit (apples, oranges , bananas ) .... I think one person took something in week. It was sad people! So I am start at a vanilla pound cake, a blueberry crumble cake, a frosting covered brownie, and Oj ...well I suppose the OJ is good for you. Yummmy for it all.....I couldn't resist because 1 I hadn't had breakfast so I was sta...

Din din....

Store bought pre-made rotisserie chicken and a single serving of steamed corn. Pretty tasty for an quickie dinner. since I've started this I've lost about 15 lbs but I tend to fluctuate those last 5 lbs. Its been, what over a month and half? Not too bad I guess but I know I could have done better had I moved more. same ol ' story with that LOL Laundry and catching up on my magazine reading is on my schedule tonight .... Speaking of...laundry is calling!!

beginning...middle..???

So far I have labeled my posts as "The Beginning ..."....I suppose for tracking purposes down the road but when do I start putting "The Middle..."? How do I determine when I'm halfway through my process? Really is it a process? Hardly I guess since I really am teaching myself better eat habits that I should hope to use the rest of my life so I can be a healthier consumer of food and treat my body better by eating better things in the right portions. Eh....this is too thought provoking for a Monday morning. On to other things.... It's Homecoming at IU this week. Despite the pitiful showing this past weekend at Virgina, I hope that we do better next weekend again Illinois....or is it Northwestern...? Sad, I should know this. Wait, I do now as I look over on the wall of my office at the Football poster w/ their schedule. One excellent sporting news is that Friday is the official "opening" of IU basketball season!!!! Most of you know that I am a SU...

spelling

Ok, so someone just noted that my spelling is horrendous...and well I don't disagree. Let me explain....I write these little things and forget I have spell check and post away then realize later I should have spelled checked but say eh...whatever....again the fault of PD I guess. So forgive the spelling/grammer problems. Yes I know I was an English major but it was for Creative writing not grammer....LOL

Cracker Oats

Why is it that whenever I make Oatmeal it never looks as appitizing as it does on the box or in commercials....I make it as the instructions say but its usually dry/globbery. Then when I put a bit more water in its all soupy. Grr....I write this as I eat my lunch of Oatmeal. That's right, I didn't want to go out in the rain and so I brought Oatmeal b/c I didn't want to make PB&J for lunch this morning....Oatmeal was easier.... God my PD* is really showing there...LOL Breakfast was McDonalds egg/saugage mcmuffin....yummmm Dammit...just realized I at my oatmeal and forgot to add the granola on top of it....lol I had a dream last night that I, age 12 or so, was having an asthma attack. I woke up gasping for breathe an went and took my inhalers.....that was unnerving to say the least......that, not the dream, is happening more often I notice. Not sure what that is about b/c I'm not wheezing (that I'm aware of).....I think I put myself into a panic of sorts....who k...

Football frenzy

I'm going to the IU vs OSU game tonight (7pm) where it promises to be a sold out game and a low of 41 degrees with a 10-20mph wind.....Welcome to Late Fall weather when we've only just begun the season. Holy crapola people. That is chilly for Oct 3rd. But I won't complain b/c I'd rather have cold than hot/humid. I can put layers on to stay warm but I can only take so much off to stay cool and even then it doesn't promise to keep me cool. LOL On monday it said it would rain today but I woke up to bright sunshine and a crisp breeze. Love it. My exercise was doing a thourough vacumming, cleaning up the kitchen and bathroom and then going outside to trim up some of my trees and some plants that have run too long and I keep running over with my car. LOL Tomorrow depending if I don't become an icicle tonight I plan to pull up some summer plants that have seen better days and move some other plants out front from the back deck. Outside of trying not to screw up my back...

libations

for the most part I drink water or ice tea. i rarely drink pop and even more rarer actually buy it. sometimes I get lemonade but overall outside of liquor that is what I drink which I think is great b/c pop is the devil...I will never forget on BGLSR a few years ago they show how much sugar one consumed by having one pop a day for an entire year.....it was frightening. scary proportions people... now liquor...of course i will have pop if it goes appropriately with a liquor like rum/coke combo but i don't drink the hard stuff very often ...I'm a beer/wine girl. This weekend I'm not only going to a big football game (IU vs OSU) but it'll be at night (so I need to stay warm) and afterwards my old college friends and I are heading out to the bar(s). I was planning on working out on Sunday aka going for a hike but lets see how big my hangover might be since I don't drink all that often anymore..... as my friend Loni says...I might tie one down Saturday nite....umm I thin...
